Three top beauty salons in the UAE show their commitment to helping the UAE reach its Sustainable Development goals

-Reduce, recycle and reuse are at the top of the agenda for N.Bar, 1847 Executive Grooming for Men and Sisters Beauty Lounge as they introduce new initiatives across their 50 salons to align with the UAE’s sustainability mission, including reducing water consumption by up to 50% and recycling 2.5 tonnes of plastic –

To show their commitment to the sustainability goals of the UAE, three of Dubai’s most popular beauty salons: N.Bar, 1847 Executive Grooming for Men and Sisters Beauty Lounge have become some of the the first in the industry to put a focus on reducing the use of plastic, water and paper across their operations. They are also putting an emphasis on educating their staff, carefully sourcing their suppliers and sharing their sustainable mission far and wide.

The three salons are also encouraging their customers, suppliers and the wider beauty industry to consider their environmental footprint and to contribute to a country-wide effort outlined by the UAE government to consume responsibly.

N.Bar, 1847 Executive Grooming for Men, and Sisters Beauty Lounge are on a mission to pioneer a sustainable approach with initiatives to reduce water consumption by 50%, recycle 2.5 tonnes of plastic and 100% of paper, and switch to sustainable materials.

New measures introduced across all salons:

  • WATER: A typical salon wastes 60,000 liters of water each year, so with the implementation of economical shower heads at the wash basins and showers, up to 65% of water will be saved here. These shower heads also clean water by removing sediment and dirt, and reduce chlorine, bacteria and other pathogens for better hair and scalp results with less effort.
  • TOWELS: Eco and biodegradable towels are now used across all branches because not only do they save electricity and water, but they also provide the highest level of hygiene.
  • PAPER: a digital transformation in each salon has meant that they are able to provide Eco-conscious choices such as online treatment menus, e-receipts and the use of QR codes.
  • PLASTIC:
    • The goal is to recycle 2.5 tonnes of plastic including packaging and PPE and a refill scheme for products has been introduced.
    • 100% composable cups have been introduced.
    • all plastic bags have been removed and 100% recyclable paper and canvas totes are available instead.
  • SUPPLIERS: from vegan friendly formulas to innovative alternative packaging, the salons are now sourcing brands that consider the environment and global community as well as delivering effective results.
